BIO-BASED RESIN
Bio-based resin is made partly from renewable biological resources and recycled plastic, it offers a more conscious alternative to conventional resin while opening up unique possibilities for form and expression.
The bio-based resin I use for all my Waves.STUDIO objects is made partly from renewable biological resources, including plant-based materials, as well as third-generation plastic waste that can no longer be recycled and would otherwise be discarded. Compared to conventional resins, it requires significantly less energy to produce.
The resin is manufactured by a family-owned company in France under energy-efficient conditions before making its way to my studio in Aarhus, Denmark. There, the slow and manual part of the journey begins.
Each piece is created entirely by hand. I use no heat, machinery, or energy-intensive processes, only time, my own two hands, and the material itself. Once shaped, the resin is left to cure naturally over a period of two to three weeks. Rather than forcing the material into a predetermined form, I allow it to respond, settle, and reveal its own character. Small variations and imperfections are not flaws to be eliminated, but reminders of the process.
Bio based resin is a material with a will of its own. Its curing time changes with temperature, humidity, and the seasons, requiring a slower and more attentive approach. Rather than controlling every outcome, I work in dialogue with the material and adapt to its natural rhythm.
Before the resin cures, I brush patterns and textures into the surface. While certain elements can be guided, the material always retains an element of unpredictability. For me, that is what makes the process so rewarding. The unexpected details and imperfections are part of what gives each object its unique character.
Each piece is created through a slow, step-by-step process. The material is mixed, poured, and allowed to cure over multiple stages, with each phase influencing the final expression.
The shaping of the work is a particularly important part of the process. It is here that the material begins to reveal its character and the design finds its final form.
Every piece is unique and accompanied by a certificate stating its exact dimensions and edition number.
Waves.STUDIO designs sculptural vases that function as functional works of art.
Inspired by the soft drapery of classical sculpture, the vases explore the tension between strength and softness, movement and stillness. The result is objects that act as both discreet mood-makers and striking statement pieces.
The vases are handmade in bio-based resin and carry natural variations in color, surface and shape, small differences that make each work unique. Perfect for the dining table, bookshelf or as a sculptural centerpiece in the home.
Waves.STUDIO creates one-of-a-kind sculptural lamps in bio-based resin. When light - natural or artificial - passes through the material, subtle organic patterns are revealed within the resin, giving each piece a distinct depth and character.
The combination of form and translucency creates an illusion of something weightless, almost like a soft cloud suspended in space.

How to clean my new object?
Each Waves.STUDIO object is handmade in bio-based resin. The material is water-repellent, UV-resistant and very durable, but does not react well to high temperatures, harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning agents. A gentle cleaning with lukewarm water and mild soap is all that is needed to maintain the object's appearance and quality.
When will new designs be available?
New Waves.STUDIO designs are released throughout the year as they are completed. Each object is developed at its own pace, with a focus on craftsmanship, material exploration and artistic expression rather than set production schedules.
