Behind Waves.STUDIO is Emilie Jensen, who creates handmade objects in the tension between functional design and art.
Each Waves.STUDIO piece is made by hand in bio-based resin and defined by organic forms, tactile surfaces, and sculptural expression. From statement vases and sculptural lighting to decorative wall art, every object is created with a focus on materiality, craftsmanship, and lasting design.
All pieces are handcrafted in Aarhus, Denmark.

WHY WAVES?
"Waves.STUDIO began in 2024 from a curiosity to create something different.
With a background in IT project management, my path into art was never planned. It started as an exploration of materials, shapes and craftsmanship, driven by a desire to learn, experiment and create something with my hands.
I have always been drawn to organic forms. The irregularity, movement and softness found in shapes that are never completely perfect. This fascination became the foundation of my artistic language, and the name Waves felt like a natural reflection of that.
Every artwork is an Emilie Jensen artwork, created and shaped by me in my studio in Denmark. Waves.STUDIO is the name that marked the beginning of my artistic practice and is more a studio name for the universe surrounding my work.
At the centre of it all is a curiosity for what a material can become when it is shaped by hand, and the unique character that appears when no two pieces are made exactly alike."

THE CONTROLLED & UNEXPECTED
"Each object is shaped by hand, and although the process is well-worked out, the result can never be completely predicted. The material leaves its own mark along the way, and that is precisely one of the most beautiful things about the process. It is in the interplay between intention and change that the character of the work arises. Small variations in surface, shape and depth are not considered deviations, but as a natural part of the expression."

THE CREATIVE PROCESS
"My ambition is to create objects that make people stop and wonder and explore every detail. I am naturally drawn to materials that challenge expectations, which is why I started experimenting with bio-based resin.
What fascinates me most is its ability to appear both delicate and strong. It can be shaped and bent in ways that would be impossible with glass or ceramics. I use almost no energy in the creation process and there is virtually no waste, unlike traditional processing methods."
